watch Company History Founded by Leon Breitling during Jura Mountains of Switzerland in 1884. Breitling manufactured and specialized in chronographs and precision counters for scientific and professional purposes. Breitling experienced fast success and therefore relocated his factory to La Chaux-de-Fonds, the center of watchmaking in Switzerland. Breitling continued to manufacture fine watches until his death in 1914.

Command over the popular watch company was taken over by Breitling's son, Gaston, who created purchasers wristwatch chronograph and supplied them to airplane pilots. Breitling one-upped himself by inventing the actual push-button chronograph in 1923. Previously, all chronographs were operating by turning a crown.



The watch is passed along to the family become involved, to Gaston's son, Willy Breitling in 1932. Taking the family business to new heights, Willy Breitling signed a care for the Royal Air Force, becoming their official supplier of aviation timepieces.



Creating an original chronograph is fitted which has a circular slide rule and adding the American Armed Forces to its clientele list, 1942 proved that should be an enormous year for Breitling.



In 1952, Breitling makes another breakthrough, by creating the Navitimer, a watch encompassed of your famous "Navigation Computer". The Navitimer was effective handling all calculations called for by a flight plan. Yet another breakthrough came in 1995, when Breitling invented the Emergency, a multifunction instrument watch having built-in micro-transmitter, which broadcasts at the 121.5 MHz aircraft emergency frequency.

To become celebration to its 100 year anniversary, Breitling submits its entire product line in to the Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute in 1999, something who may have never been done by any company.

Notorious for breakthroughs and inventions, Breitling introduces the SuperQuartz in 2001, which provides movement 10 times more accurate than regular quartz movements.
